“It is color that drives her work along with a keen eye for rhythm and inventive composition…Squires’ works are a pleasant walk through her mind’s eye where surprise balances the anticipated.” (excerpt from “The Ink”, February 2004, Arts & Entertainment – Southern New Mexico and West Texas.)

Squires paints a wide range of subjects, primarily in oil, but often in pastel, acrylic or watercolor.  Her paintings are punctuated with fresh color and loose brushstrokes conveying movement and energy.  Her subject matter is often collected from travels, and the light and color of the American southwest – its people, culture and landscape – invest her work in a profound way.

Kathleen has no sophisticated philosophy about her work.  She paints the things that catch her eye – capturing moments in time – and, in the end, shares them with others.  “If what I produce conforms to some standard of excellence, that’s a bonus,” she says.
